Brooklyn was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries, Ventrical Septal Defect and Atrial Septal Defect. When she was born we had no idea that she had a heart defect. About 24 hours after she was born she had her temperature taken (which was high), the nurse thought she heard a murmur. Brookyn has been take for blood work and it came back with low oxygen count. Our doctor heard a little murmur and Brooklyn was taken for a ultrasound on her heart and that is when they noticed she had a heart defect and she was going to be flown to Childrens Hospital and Clinics in Minneapoils. The holes in her heart were a good thing in her case because they let blood transfer. Brooklyn had open heart surgery at just five days old to repair her heart. Her surgery went well and she had no complications. She is now three and half years old and is doing amazing. She hasn't had any complications after her surgery. She doesn't have to go back until she is five years old to see her cardiologist at Childrens Hospital and Clinics of Minneapolis.
